Business Growth Score

The common myth is that successful businesses grow year on year in an exponential fashion, although as you may have already experienced, the reality is that there are speed bumps along the way.  Often, it can be helpful to have a facilitated conversation to identify where the business is currently and outline the options for the future, which also enables a discussion around the personal and business consequences of the path you choose to take.  This is a practical approach to strategic decision making.

Business Growth Path
Where is the business currently and what are the options for the future

If growth is your goal, experience tells us that comparative benchmarking is a crucial element when assessing the gap between “strategic drift” and “strategic intent”, and for exploring outcomes when strategy and action are not linked.  Through industry research, several key themes have emerged in understanding effective strategic growth.

The PMO’s strategic growth model has been built on the amalgamation of 16 years of research on the business sector…

Through 2008-2016, 600 organisations and over 26,000 employees have been tracked.  Organisational issues have been evaluated between low, medium and high performing organisations.  Self-ratings of employers with regards to strategy implementation have also been tracked.

From 2017-2021, a sample of 400 organisations who completed the assessment were analysed for variability in alignment, thus providing the low and high alignment benchmarks in the latest version of the report.

The Business Growth Score is a process to use:

      • To establish a baseline at the start of a new working relationship or when commencing a structured board start-up program
      • To review progress on an annual basis as a measurement of the impact resulting from the changes you’ve made
      • At any time, to evaluate the alignment of business priorities and your team’s composition.

The Business Growth Score is designed to facilitate a purposeful conversation about the alignment of owner/shareholder expectations and business performance.  It includes:

      • Quantitative information on the current state of the business, and
      • Qualitative information on how you “feel” about the business – 20 questions designed to help our team see the context to the current mindset of the owner(s) and management and where expectations are being met, or not.

The numbers give us a starting point for an open and targeted conversation about the things that matter and serves to fast track our understanding of what pressure points exist today and what motivates the team to deliver.  It provides a platform to discuss the future and distill down to the top 3 priorities that will help achieve your goals.

The Business Growth Score is an online assessment tool and an important part of the transformation process, which can be triangulated with our other models to set the priorities for our engagement.  The resulting report is obligation-free and will be made available to you whether you choose to work with us or not.
